Aubrey Berriman was originally from Devon and learnt his trade as a boatbuilder in Bideford. He remembers distinctly that his services were required so urgently that Barlows paid for him to travel from Bideford to Braunston by train and that the company also paid for his wife and possessions to follow afterwards.
